Michael Bastian SS16 NYFWM

Here are my favorite looks from the Michael Bastian SS16 show:

I've always had a love for the Michael Bastian esthetic. He always takes that preppy look and styles it in a way that could be worn straight off the runway. The theme for the show was Bel-Air, more so the richness off old Hollywood. Bastian seems to always have a certain print that he'll use for that season and this time is was a fun banana leaf CAMO that came in trousers, shorts, a cargo jacket, loafers, and a tote bag. A few stand out pieces for me were the banana leaf jacket, the soft pink dinner jacket, and light blue denim jacket.

Public School NYFWM SS16

Here are my favorite looks from Public School's SS16 presentation:

The thing I like about Public School is the black and white color scheme that they stick too. But this time they introduced a few new things: the color navy and a window pane print. They work so well with the construction and style of the clothes they made. This collection has an easiness to them, even with blazers and top coats. A few stand out pieces for me were the shoes, the white top coat and the white window pane button up shirt.

Mens Fashion Week: Trends Part II

Here is Part II of trends I saw during mens fashion week in London, Paris and Milan.

Denim on Denim:

Wearing denim on denim is a popular trend this season and is going to be next spring as well. Some designers kept the denim basic while others chose their denim to have different washes or embellished some time of print or embroidery to them.

Oversized T's:

A big trend right now is wearing the longer hemmed t-shirts. But for next spring instead of longer t's its going to be all about the 'boxy t'. They came in all different colors and fabrics such as nylon, leather, and sweat shirt material. Most designers paired them with shorts or slim fashion pants.

Long Coats:

Basically every designer was showing long coats and top coats, which hearing that makes most people think of winter. The fabrication is what makes these coats fit for summer. Made of linen cotton blends, nylon, and merino wool these coats are cool and fashionable for those chilly spring night out on the town.

Jumpsuits:

A new trend I like is the jumpsuit, which I feel is replacing the overalls we saw for summer 2015. They took the race car driver jumpsuit and made it feel more luxurious using leather, nylon, denim, and heavy satin. Designers also added pockets, belts and unconventional shoes to help style these jumpsuits.

All-Over Prints:

A lot of designers were showing head to toe printed looks. Many chose to make printed suits with the jackets and pants in the same print. Some showed bold in your face prints and other chose more subtle prints. I like them, but only for certain special occasions.

Mens Fashion Week: Trends Part I

Here is Part 1 of trends I saw during mens fashion week in London, Paris, and Milan.

RED SUITS:

Whether paired with black or white the red suit definitely was a staple look for most designers for next spring.

ALL WHITE:

Dressed up or ripped up and worn with sneakers most designers showed a lot of all white looks.

REINVENTED CAMO:

Alot of designers chose to show camo prints but in their own way, changing the colors or adding another print to it.

BOMBER JACKETS:

Bomber jackets have been very popular lately and the trend it staying well into next year. Designers showed them in all types of fabrics from croc to leather to denim to nylon.

ALL BLACK:

What's there to say. Wearing all black will always be in, whether it's summer or winter.

ANIMAL PRINT:

A really big trend were designers using different animal prints like cheetah, tiger, leopard, and even giraffe. Some had sprinkles of it and some made it the main print for their collection such as Coach and Balmain.

Balmain Spring Summer 2016 PFW

Here are my favorite looks from the Balmain SS16 runway show:

For Balmains first mens runway show Olivier took safari to the next level. There were intricately crafted leather jackets, baggy dropped crotch pants, tiger stripped jackets and lots of gold. I loved the color scheme of black, cream, tobacco and khaki. He also introduced gladiator sandals and waist belts for men. A few of my favorite pieces were the dropped crotch slouchy leather pants, the tobacco bomber, and all of the bags!
